We are pleased to announce that our festival was officially launched last Tuesday. Check out the blog to find out who was there, what they said and get a flavour of the 2010 programme. Includes video highlights from Rachel's programme announcement speech and stirring words from one of our most celebrated actors, Fiona Shaw.
Elizabeth Karlsen joins us as the new Chair of the Birds Eye View board of trustees, bringing her experience of years of producing outstanding and commercially successful films (from Ladies in Lavendar to Sounds Like Teen Spirit), company management and a high level network to boot. Danish filmmaker Susanne Bier is currently in the spotlight. The Hollywood re-make of her film 'Brothers', which stars Natalie Portman and Jake Gyllenhaal has just been released. Bier is the screenwriter on the re-make and writer-director of the 2004 original. She is one of Europe's most accomplished and consistently adventurous film figures, so we can't wait to welcome her to the festival for a masterclass and mini-retrospective. She now stars in Burlesque Undressed - a lavish and dazzling journey right into the heart of the art-form, featuring a compelling mix of live performance, interviews from burlesque stars past and present, captivating music and all-round show-stopping entertainment. In cinemas now.
