Thursday, 27th March, 2008 6pm - 10pm

Prequel to Cannes is a networking event for the Professional Film Community. Founder and Screenwriter, Rosie Jones of Creative Thoughts Productions Limited, created PTC with the specific aim of providing information on how to attend international film markets, as well as providing a forum for Filmmakers to meet and discuss film projects and therefore create a united film community from within the heart of the Wessex Region.

‘It was designed from the inside out… I listened to my contemporaries and peers across the various disciplines of film production, took their wish list and provided them with the opportunity to develop their businesses and projects locally. Being based outside the main UK film capitals does not mean we cannot produce high end, award winning film product. The region is underpinned by some amazing film talent and we need to shout about that by creating a platform of self promotion’

The feedback from last year’s event has been developed further, which means this year we have six agencies providing opportunities for filmmakers and film artists to discuss their projects or business needs in a private, twenty minute, 1-2-1 pre-booked consultation slot.

For those who prefer to network with the agencies in a more informal forum, WAVE Arts Education Agency, Purbeck Film Festival, The Wessex Muse Magazine, White Lantern Film, Poole Borough Arts Development Unit and their Location Poole project, Creative Dorset and The Study Gallery of Modern Art Poole, will also be present to discuss or advise on how their agency may be able to assist film artists.

Also available on the night: A DVD showcase of local Filmmakers work; Film related Golden Giveaways – publications from our generous sponsors; Platinum Giveaway – the use of the gallery for one lucky filmmaker to showcase their work in the Autumn; Talent Wall for Performers, Crew and all film related personnel to pin up their work, photo’s, CV’s; A job’s vacancy section; A Screenwriters’ Wall of Words where all writers can pin up their intended projects in the form of Log lines, Pitches, treatments, part scripts, contact details, imdb listings (International Movie database); Use of one of the six MAC’s available to preview or demonstrate work to interested parties, whether through websites or DVD’s.

And finally the main purpose of the evening is for filmmakers and film personnel to mingle and network and discuss current and future projects… It is a really enjoyable, entertaining and informative evening providing opportunity for collaboration as well as networking and if last year is anything to go by there is no reason why that shouldn’t be the case again…
